Wwelcome to BritFlight's Website

BritFlight launched in March 2009 as a result of almost a years planning, design, testing and development. 6 months in and we are becoming known in the industry, hopefully for the right reasons!

We work hard to know our products in-side out, the electronics we recommend and stock have been carefully selected and tested to ensure they are right for our planes while being affordable. This ethos of knowing our product is one we want to keep close by.

The Future of Model Aviation?

Why 'the future of model aviation'? Corny perhaps, but certainly not to get the backs up of established business and modelers. We looked at what we thought was important to the model aviation market, from where we learnt to fly, how we were taught, what we flew and so on - both my Father and my introduction to the hobby came from clubs at school – we both felt intimidated as kids at 'proper' model flying clubs but at school we were with our own age group and it was fun. What wasn't fun was spending 3 months building a trainer from balsa and then to crash it after less than 30 seconds flying.

So we decided to design and develop products that could be built by inexperienced and expeirenced model builders alike, that could take a few mistakes without destroying the whole plane and would give enjoyment way beyond expectations and could be upgraded as skills allow.

We also decided to get involved with school model clubs, to donate planes in order to encourage interest in our fantastic hobby – something that our hobby needs – as well as trying to create a successful business.

We see the 'future of model aviation' is to get younger people into the hobby, encouraging and supporting schools to have a model club and providing products that interest as many people as possible.

Who are we?

Bryce Allcorn – born in 1977 and trained as an electronics engineer. He has been flying on and off since 1988, starting with electric round-the-pole, i.c. trainers and then on to brushed electric planes and now brushless electric planes. Bryce is also a retained fire fighter for Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service and part of the HFRS aerial observation paltform team, flying a large electric helicopter fitted with digital video/thermal imaging down-linked systems at a variety of incidents.
Bryce fronts the company and is the main point of contact for BritFlight as well as developing new and existing products.

Roger Allcorn – Born in 1952 and a well known electronics design consultant - partly in the aviation industry, he has was flying (ish) before he was a teenager – almost 50 years of crashing every type of model possible – gliders, powered gliders, trainers, war-birds, ducted fan, flying wings, helicopters – you name it, Roger has crashed it! It makes him a great test pilot for BritFlight and he works on all our new and existing products, bring real life knowledge into model form... If you ever need to know anything about model electronics then just ask!

James Goode – The youngest member of the team, James looks after the factory in Leominster and runs some of the less 'plane' based projects such as the helitrainer. James is currently learning to fly planes as it has been a totally new experience for him – one that has proven to be a good laugh!

Steve Goode – The managing director of BritFlight, Steve overviews the company and we are slowly getting him into flying! Steve's background is in the veterinary/pharmaceutical industry and backing obscure business ideas such as BritFlight!

The Future...

The results of our work can be seen throughout our website and indeed our product range, we've tried and tested everything we sell (to destruction in some cases) and continuously develop and expand the range.  We like odd, and so some of the future developments will be a bit odd, hopefully odd sells!

We'd love to hear any ideas for future products – who knows, come up with something good and you might end up with a free version of it winging its way to you!!!

If you've purchased a plane from us you will know from the manual the amount of emphasis we place on offering useful support, so if you do have a query then drop us an email (support@britflight.co.uk ), we aim to have a reply to you within 2 hours (normal office hours).

So thank you for taking the time to look through these pages and we hope you will soon be flying high with a new BritFlight product!
